Welcome to the Bailey Lauerman Experience

The 2017 BLX'ers

After fielding hundreds of applications–a twofold increase from 2016–Bailey Lauerman welcomes six young advertising pros to the 2017 Bailey Lauerman Experience (BLX), an eight-week immersive summer internship at the agency’s Omaha headquarters.

The BLX pairs upperclassmen and recent grads with top mentors in their fields, including account service, project management, digital strategy, design, public relations, social media management, media and copywriting. The class works across the agency’s client roster, providing them greater insight into Bailey Lauerman’s process and an understanding of how to help brands authentically understand and connect with The Everything In Between.

“We call it the Bailey Lauerman Experience because that’s truly what we try to give these students–a chance to gain real, professional experience that helps them build their career,” said Cyndi Wenninghoff, Head of Talent at Bailey Lauerman. “We received twice as many applications compared with our 2016 program, which is a testament to the reputation we’ve built for BLX. Plus, we benefit by developing a high-quality pipeline of talent for the agency.”

This year’s BLX class includes students from top advertising programs, including University of Nebraska-Lincoln, University of Nebraska-Omaha, Creighton University, Texas Tech and BYU.

Andrew is a recent graduate from the University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO) with a degree in Studio Arts and concentration in Graphic Design. Earlier this year, he completed an art book chronicling the life and works of Milton Wolsky, a modern artist, illustrator and native Omahan for an exhibit at UNO’s Art Gallery.

While Mackenzie Millard graduated from the University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO) in May, she’s already put her public relations degree to good use. Mackenzie recently completed an internship at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska, and has been involved in Advertising Club, AAF Omaha and UNO’s The Gateway newspaper.

Hunter currently attends Creighton University, where he is pursuing a double major in Marketing and Technical Theatre. He has interned in theatrical marketing at the Hennepin Theatre Trust in Minneapolis, as well at Yahoo as an Ad Operations Specialist.

Marlee recently graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in Advertising and the Job Propulsion Lab, a portfolio school taught under mentor Bart Cleveland. At the Austin Addy’s she took home a Gold as well as Digital Best of Show for a social media campaign for Dollar Shave Club: Shave your No-Shave. This carried her on to regionals where the campaign won a Silver Addy.

Cassidy is currently studying Advertising at Brigham Young University in Utah and is expected to graduate in December 2017. Cassidy has worked with a wide range of clients at BYU AdLab and peer60, including Stance socks, Intellibed and McKesson.

Sadie is studying Advertising and Public Relations at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL), and will graduate in May 2018. At UNL Sadie is the External Vice President of the University Program Council (UPC) and a volunteer staff member for Launch Leadership, an all-volunteer organization that provides leadership training for middle school and high school students.
